![]() Love is a human emotion. It can be painful; it can be wonderful. Human beings have a natural desire to be close, to be intimate, to feel they are not alone, that they are one. They don’t want to feel isolated, separated, or alone. These feelings cause fear and anxiety. It is natural. There is a great longing in every person for this unity, this wholeness. And when you find someone and you feel love, and you feel love with friends, with family, with children, with community, when you feel loved and you feel your heart go out in love to others, you feel safe, connected, whole. This is natural. Human beings have grown up from their earliest days needing to be connected, to feel this connectedness with others and the safety of love, of the group, of the community, of the clan, the tribe. So love provides safety, connectedness, the feeling that you are part of something larger than you, and an ability to be melted into something greater than yourself. So human love between partners, in families, in clans, tribes, communities...and with love comes loyalty, devotion, protection of loved ones, for they are your heart, your center. And it is not only humans but other species that feel this love, this need to connect, to feel at home, sheltered, safe, and whole, because there is a connection beyond your little self. When that is cut off, there is fear, anxiety, strain, sorrow, sometimes anger. It is difficult. God, Parama Purusha, the infinite love, infinite consciousness, infinite being, is all that is. The human mind distinguishes together and apart loved ones and others and finds shelter and safety in loved ones. But the real love, the source of love, is always with you, whether you are in the group, in the clan or tribe; whether you have a partner or are alone, the real source of love, the real love, is always with you. When you see another and you fall in love, with whom do you fall in love, and what do you love? You love some characteristics about the person you resonate with. But what you love is the unity you feel, the synchronicity, the vibrational harmony which takes you beyond yourself, where you can feel not alone, where you can feel wholeness, and in that wholeness, safety. But that wholeness you carry within you. It is the delusion of the mind to feel separateness. It is the sense of “I am” -ness, “I exist apart from others,” that causes this feeling of separateness, of duality, that stops you from feeling this wholeness. So that I must search for other to find unity and wholeness and dissolve the I and other into a family unit, into a partnership where there is love between, and there is no I and other for perhaps a moment, multiple moments—but it is there, and it becomes treasured, that love. For I must search for another to love. But if you go inside that I-feeling, and you begin to see what this I-feeling is, what is this sense of me, this sense of self, that is where you find that it is a bit of a projection based on your consciousness being identified with the body and the senses and the mind. It has developed this Maha Tattwa, this I-feeling. But when that I-feeling is looked at, really looked at, really dissected, there is the discovery that there was no I; there is no separateness; there is the infinite one manifesting in your I-feeling, in your body, in your mind, in your sense of self and the other, in the loved ones, and that those that are not loved ones; all is a part of a whole. There is only the one. When the I dissolves, when the true understanding is awakened, some say the third eye opens, that when true knowledge is attained--Viveka, true knowledge—there is the understanding, the perception that self and other are a dream, is an illusion. There is no other. There is no self, no separate self who lives in a body and a mind. For that separate self is composed of the same substance that all else is composed of: being. There is an infinite divine intelligence, an infinite grace that is spread through all existence, both manifest and unmanifest. This vast intelligence, this vast cosmic aware intelligence has created you, has created the other, has created the loved one and the dance of falling in love, and longing. Lover, the one loved, and the act of loving are the same, made of the same substance. And this cosmic intelligence has a yearning that you feel inside of you, a yearning for wholeness, for oneness. There is a natural drawback to the one, to your natural state of being. Not alone, not separate, but part of an interwoven, interconnected whole of being. ![]() The vast cosmic being is embodied in you, in your feelings, your thoughts, even in your pain, even in the lostness of the mind, in the dream of relativity. There is only one cosmic whole. You are never separate; you are never alone. Yet when consciousness becomes identified with body-mind experience and the I-feeling, the sense of separateness and aloneness can become very painful. And the need to establish yourself in connection with others, in love, in wholeness, begins to dominate. So the path forward seems to be to find others whom you can love, whom you can connect to, that you feel harmony with, that you feel safe with, and in those moments of connectedness, feel that safety. Yet when you sink beyond the scope of mind into the depths of meditation, into the silence of being, into peace, the stillness, the unity, then that need falls away, for love eternal is always there. External love lasts as long as the forms are together. And when forms pass or leave, there is pain and suffering, grief and sorrow. Fear arises. Fear of separation, fear of aloneness. And there is only one true solution, and that is to recognize that you have never been alone, you are not alone, and you will never be alone. For that very idea of you as a separate being is a dream. You are part of the one whole. The infinite Brahma exists in the creation of the idea. Where there has been you, if you look with a clear mind, clear eyes, there is no you; there is no I; there is no me. There is infinite love, the grace of the infinite showering into the universe, creating forms and colors, a kaleidoscope of existence, and then melting the forms and colors together. There is only one infinite being. Even in your fear, even in your sorrow, there is only infinite being. Remember this, and love flows forth. You want to know the path to enlightenment, to God consciousness? It is a very simple path: Know your Self. Whether you do this through inquiry, visualization, or Mantra doesn’t matter. But what matters is that you open your mind and your heart. When the heart and mind are open, letting go of preconceived ideas, feeling love, love divine will do the rest. You are part of a whole. You are one with that grace, that love. Love is your nature. Do you not think that the force that guides the course of the stars, the rotations of the planets, the evolution of living beings, cannot also guide you out of fear, out of darkness, into your true nature? The idea of inner and outer is as synthetic as the idea of you as a separate entity. The guidance you see is without and within. It is the chirping of a bird, the babbling of a brook; the secret of infinite love is all around you. The Guru is everywhere. Where can that one hide? You think Guru can die? Guru is in India or some other faraway location? No. Guru is everywhere, always. The infinite one, the infinite Brahma, that is the true Guru. It is the blindness of your own eyes that you do not see the Guru. Guru is all around, ancient, eternal, undying, the true Self, your true Self. So the famous saying of a Guru is, the devotees are saying, “Oh, what will we do if you leave this body? You will be going away from us,” and the Guru says, “Where is there for me to go? I am always here.” The Guru is not on a high throne in heaven, in far-off India, or passed away from this earth. Those are forms of the many forms of the one. Know the one and you will know all. All right? The path is a simple one. Open your heart; open your mind; surrender; know your Self; and see the Guru everywhere. You are never alone. Aloneness is a condition of the ego. The ego is a dream. There is no separate self. The infinite is everywhere, always. All right? Remember this. Namaskar.
