Divinity is all around—within you, around you, in every living being you meet and come in contact with. It is the pulse of life, the thread which binds all things together, the very substantive nature of all creation. Divinity is not an abstraction far away, an idea that can't be grasped. No. It is your everyday experience. It is the life of your life, the blood of your blood, the essence of your own mind.
When you think, who is thinking? Who is there listening to your thoughts? When you feel something strongly, who is feeling it, feeling your thoughts? Listening always, is with you aware of every thought, every nuance of your existence. That Self of yourself, the one eternal essence is always aware; aware that you exist. Aware of the existence of all creation. All existence lies within this awareness, within this consciousness.
This intelligent awareness is Purusha—consciousness, beingness. This intelligent awareness is the nature of your own soul, your atman. The witness of everything you do, think, and feel. The knower of everything about you, good and bad. The atman is the knower of your entire existence. It's the very essence of who you are.
When you are in a garden, when you are around friends, family, co-workers, when you are looking at a flower, touching a flower, when you are with an animal, petting an animal, you are with the Infinite one. You are with the Self of yourself. For all that exists within the mind of the Infinite. All that exists within the presence of the Infinite—knowing consciousness, knowing intelligence. So, you are never alone. You are never separate.
That one which guides the stars in the heaven, which brings all creation into existence, preserves it, and dissolves it, is the one that is closest to you, knowing everything about you, your heart desires, your deepest pain. That one is with you in your darkest hour and in your greatest joy. The witness of all that you are, closer than close. Not far away, not distant, closer than close. That one is the essence of your own being, the true nature of your own Self.
So, when you want to know that Infinite being, that divine consciousness, take a moment to be quiet, to feel the unity between you and every living being, to feel the connectedness of the whole which permeates all creation.
You know in one plane there are multiple forms. In another there is simply space, atomic particles and subatomic particles. Form becomes irrelevant and there are only waves. So do not be bound by form. Bind yourself instead to the waves of infinite love which is the substance of all existence. All existence lies in this foundation. It is the clay out of which all creation is formed.
This is the substance of your own being—the breath of your breath, the truth of your existence, the love which never changes, which always is between all beings within you and around you. Knowledge of that is your birth right. To know it, simply sink into your meditation, surrender all of your ideas and beliefs, all your concepts of who you are and what you do. Let it go and feel that loving presence and let yourself fall back into that.
Whatever technique you use for meditation, do this and you will feel divine presence and know the divine love. It's not far away. It is here with you always closer than your own breath.
